TYNDALE Choral Society will be performing Benjamin Britten’s Saint Nicolas in Dursley this month.
They will be joined by singers from Cheltenham Youth Choir and the Regency Sinfonia Orchestra at St James’ Church on Saturday, November 17, from 7.30pm.
Britten’s piece includes the well-known hymns All people that on earth do dwell and God moves in a mysterious way, which the audience are invited to join in with and sing along.
The concert also features Haydn’s Saint Nicolas Mass.
Director of music, Ben Sawyer said: “It’s appropriate in the run-up to Christmas to stage these two great, contrasting works celebrating the life of Saint Nicolas, better known these days, of course, as Santa Claus.
“The Britten is great fun, and supports the composer’s contention that music should be ‘of use to people, to please them, to enhance their lives.’”
Tickets cost £10 and will be available on the door.
