DURSLEY Town Council has chosen a new councillor.
In a ballot at last night's town council meeting, Tom Arnold was selected as the councillor for Highfields Ward.
The post became vacant following the resignation of Cllr Wayne Paice on September 13.
As the vacancy occurred within six months before the date on which the present councillors will retire, no election was held.
Instead, the council co-opted Mr Arnold fill the vacancy.
Miriam Yagud also put herself forward for the position.
