Avon and Somerset Police and a forensic team were called to a house in Stanshawes Crescent in Yate last week.
Crime scene investigators were at the house on Thursday November 8 as there were reports of a man's body being found.
Police then knocked on numerous doors throughout the road, as investigations continued.
The forensic teams were at the house for around 24 hours from the Thursday as they told the death was unexplained.
South Western Ambulance Service also attended the incident early in the morning.
A statement from Avon and Somerset Police released on Tuesday, November 13 revealed the death has now been referred to the coroner.
"We were called to reports of the body of a man at a property in Stanshawes Crescent in Yate on Thursday 8 November at about 7.10am," a spokesperson said.
"The matter has been referred to the coroner as a non-suspicious sudden death.
"We are continuing to make enquiries on behalf of the coroner."
