A DEVOTED grandmother is hoping to raise thousands to combat a rare genetic disorder.
Christine Ogden, aged 78, organises a special concert every year to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy UK.
My grandson Alexander Ogden (aged 17) has Duchenne muscular dystrophy. It affects every muscle but not always at the same time. He can't walk any more or use his arms properly.
"All the money goes to research that takes place in London."
Alexander was diagnosed when he was 18-months old.
As well as arranging the annual concert Mrs Ogden visits schools, organising charity bag packs, and recently raised £1,000 with the help of Bolton School.
Performances on the evening will include tenor Ryan Hunt, violinist Matthew Chadbond, pianist Maria Stratigou and pupils from Bolton School.
The concert is being held on Saturday at 7.30pm at the Bridge Church Centre in Bradford Street, Bolton.
There will also be stalls and a raffle. Tickets are £10 and include a drink and a mince pie. Children under 16 can get in free.
