POLICE have made an eighth arrest in connection with the murder of a 24-year-old man in Crawley on Thursday evening (November 15).

The 17-year-old boy from Crawley presented himself to Crawley Police Station on Friday afternoon November 16 and was arrested on suspicion of murder.

He remains in police custody at this stage.

Emergency services were called to Watson Close in Maidenbower just after 6.30pm on November 15 where it was reported that the 24-year-old man had been seriously injured.

The man was declared dead at the scene. His next-of-kin have been informed but is yet to be formally identified.

Two people arrested in connection with the incident have since been released without charge and will face no further action. They are:

A 17-year-old boy from Crawley, arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender;

A 17-year-old boy from Crowborough, arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Five people have been released under investigation pending further enquiries. They are:

A 47-year-old man from Crawley, arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender;

A 20-year-old man from Crawley, arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and possession of cannabis;

A 44-year-old woman from Crawley, arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender;

A 17-year-old boy from Crawley, arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender;

A 24-year-old man from Crawley, arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

A 17-year-old boy from Crawley presented himself to Crawley Police Station on Friday afternoon (16 November) and was arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in police custody at this stage.

Detective Chief Inspector Till Sanderson, who is leading the investigation into the man's murder, said: "We believe that the victim was known to his attackers and we have arrested three people in connection with the murder.

"Enquiries are continuing to locate two other people who we want to speak to.

"Our thoughts are with the man's family and friends at this tragic time and I would urge anyone who witnessed the incident, the events leading up to it or who has any information to assist our enquiry to report online or call 101 quoting Operation Horseman."
