AN EASTENDERS actor has made an appearance at one of the city’s nightclubs.

Steve McFadden, better known as Eastenders hard-man Phil Mitchell, walked into Shoosh Nightclub in Kings Road, Brighton, accompanied by the soap’s theme tune.

Screaming fans are seen to reach out to touch the 59-year-old starring member of the east London soap as he made his way onto the stage.

A video of the moment he arrived has been seen nearly a million times on Twitter.
The poster said: “Phil Mitchell coming out to the Eastenders theme tune at Shoosh... I’ve seen it all”

The Argus:

Karl Ryan, general manager of Shoosh, said: "What a legend - Steve had time for everyone at Lollipop Thursdays, photos, selfies, signing shirts and even a few body parts.

"It was a great booking by the team at We Are Freshers team that promote our Thursday night event and we can’t wait to have Steve back next year."

The soap star of 28 years was not short of adulation with freshers-partygoers lining up in droves to get a snap with the father of five.

Steve's first appearance as Albert Square's tough-talking businessman was on February 20, 1990 and was the centre of the BBC One show's "Who Shot Phil?" storyline.

The final episode of the storyline caused the third-largest power surge on record and the Liverpool and Barcelona UEFA Cup semi-final was postponed for 15 minutes to accommodate a special 40 minute edition of the soap.

Steve is to return to Albert Square next week after taking a two month break in Spain.
