Thousands of people turned out for Thornbury’s Christmas light switch-on event on Tuesday.

Thornbury welcomed Great British Bake Off contestant Briony Williams (below), and was well supported with fantastic fair rides and a number of food stalls.

Thornbury Christmas Lights Association (TCLA) had been preparing over the last few months, with more than 90 Christmas displays being made for November 20.

At the display there was also a raffle, with a cake made by Briony the prize for those who took part.

The money raised by the raffle then went to the charity ‘Thornbury Welcomes’ which focuses on welcoming new residents in to the area through events and estate agents.

The High Street in the town was closed between 9.30am and 11.00pm last night, whilst Castle Street was also closed between 3.00pm-9.00pm.
