School children in Almondsbury have been given brightly-coloured clothing to try and keep them safe this winter.
Pupils at Almondsbury Primary School have been provided with colourful gloves and reflectors for their backpacks.
This follows a reduction in the speed limit on nearby roads from 30mph to 20mph.
Conservative councillor Keith Burchell spent £650 of his Member Awarded Funding to purchase the items.
Each South Gloucestershire councillor is allocated £3,000 a year to spend on local projects.
Cllr Burchell said: “It is important that young people are visible when walking to and from school, particularly when crossing roads.
“I am pleased this funding is being put to such good use."
Simon Church, Chair of Governors at Almondsbury Primary School, said: “We want to thank Cllr Burchell for putting the safety of our children first. We are grateful he thought of us when deciding how this funding should be spent.”
