A popular hair studio in Yate is celebrating their 20th anniversary.

Uppercuts, ran by Allison Shutt, has been based on Westerleigh Road since 1998.

Situated above the One Stop shop and a florist for the last two decades, Allison has seen the business become what is now an established salon in the Yate area.

"We have a popular team here and some of the staff have been a part of Uppercuts for a long time," Allison said.

"One member of staff has been here for 19 years and I think our shortest serving member is around five years."

Allison also revealed throughout the time that Uppercuts has been running, there have been loyal customers that have stayed with them.

"There have been people that have been coming along for their hair appointments for the whole 20 years," the owner continued.

"We do a lot of cuts for the same group as we get around 20/25 older ladies that come in once or twice every week.

"It is nice to see that people come back as it shows that we all do a good job."

On how she would describe Uppercuts to someone who has never been before, Allison believes they find a good balance as staff.

"I would say that we are very professional and work very hard, but we are also really friendly and happy when we have customers in," she said.

"We are fairly established now and people tend to hear about us by word of mouth, so that shows that again we are doing the right things.

"As a team we want to continue to provide a service to the area.

"We want to carry on and keep doing what we are doing.

"Hopefully if we do that, we will be celebrating another 20 years of service to the area in the future."
