A sculpture that was part of a moving remembrance display in Slimbridge has been put up for sale online.
The wire statues represented 11 villagers who lost their lives in the First World War.
Artist Jackie Lantelli made the sculptures out of chicken wire, with each one representing a particular soldier.
The display featured information boards, created by Slimbridge Local History Society, providing details about each of the solider's lives.
With descendants of each soldier still living in Slimbridge, Jackie gave each family the statue of their lost family member when the display was taken down.
Speaking at the time Jackie said: "The sculptures will be going back home.
"They’ll be standing in the orchards and gardens where they actually came from, where the person they represent played and worked before the war.”
The wire statue was initially put up for sale on GumTree ten days ago, with an asking price of £375.
Today, (Tuesday, December 11) the listing was removed from the website.
A number of residents have expressed their sadness of the soldier being put up for sale, with some initially suggesting they club together and buy the soldier themselves to stop it potentially leaving the village.
