The dates of bin collections over the festive season has been announced.

All collections between Christmas Day and January 11 will be altered.

Collections that would normally fall on December 25-27 or January 1-3 will all take place two days after the original date.

Friday collections on December 28 and January 4 will instead take place the following Monday.

Collections from January 7-11 will all take place a day later than planned before things return to normal on Monday, January 14.

South Gloucestershire Council has urged residents to recycle their Christmas trees.

If you are subscribed to green bin garden waste collection, cut up the tree and put it in your green bin or put the whole tree next to your green bin if it is under 6ft tall.

Garden waste sacks can be bought from your local library or Marshfield Country Stores for£2.10. These should be attached to your tree with string.

All decorations including loose tinsel must be removed.

Trees can also be taken to your local Sort It recycling centre although these will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
