NEW primary school data for Gloucestershire has been published by the government, showing the educational levels of Key Stage Two pupils across the county.
It is based on Sats tests, which are used to give an overview of the levels of reading, writing and maths amongst children.
The results show that the county’s schools were one per cent below the national average for meeting the expected standard.
In England, the national average sees 64 per cent of pupils meeting the expected standard, with 63 per cent of school pupils doing so in Gloucestershire.
The county’s girls kept up with the national average, with 69 per cent meeting the expected standard in reading, writing and maths. Whereas at 58 per cent, the boys were three per cent below the national average.
However, the percentage of boys reaching a higher standard in reading, writing and maths was higher than the national average – at nine per cent, it is one per cent above the national average.
Girls were in line with the national average, at 12 per cent.
