SCHOOL children in Slimbridge will soon be able to play a brand new digital piano, thanks to cash raised at the parish’s summer fete.
Sara Lewis, a member of the parish’s fete committee, visited the school to present £200 to the Friends of Slimbridge School (FOSS), from the annual event.
With the extra cash, FOSS will now be able to afford the keyboard.
Funds raised at the fete will also go towards Slimbridge sports day (£100) and to the regeneration of Slimbridge playing fields (£300).
“A key objective of the fete is to make sure funds are made to go back into parish community projects,” said Sara.
"The sports day is a traditional annual event that has been taking place in the village for many, many years.
"We wanted to support it as it's all about bringing the community together and putting on a fun event for children and adults."
The regeneration cash for the playing fields will go towards revamping the existing play area, with new, wheelchair accessible equipment.
"Our sincere thanks to our community organisations, volunteers and traders who helped make the fete a great success," said Sara.
Next year’s Slimbridge Parish Fete is Saturday, June 29.
