THIS fabulous collection of images of the Sharpness branch line collated by the Vale of Berkeley Railway (VoBR).

VoBR is a group of railway enthusiasts, with experience of heritage railway preservation.

Their aim is to reopen the Sharpness branch line to passengers as a heritage railway tourist attraction, rebuilding some of the key structures that once adorned the joint GWR & LMS Severn & Wye Railway.

The volunteers have established an engineering facility based in the old engine shed by Sharpness docks in order to restore heritage locomotives, rolling stock and other suitable items from a by-gone era and to serve as an initial base for the Vale of Berkeley Railway.

Eventually they hope to restore the original Sharpness station site, and start up a heritage railway operation towards Berkeley.

VoBR member Alan Price said: "We always welcome new members and active volunteers.

"Everyone has something they can contribute, but the most useful skill is enthusiasm."

Many thanks to Andrew Perrin and Alan Price of VoBR for the photographs.
