Last week the Gazette told you about an amazing achievement by Chipping Sodbury Parkrun, this weekend they were rewarded with a special visit from Mr Parkrun himself.

After breaking their attendance record with their New Year's Day run, the organisers of the event at Chipping Sodbury's The Ridings couldn't have imagined what would happen the following weekend.

Parkrun was created in 2004 in Bushy Park, London, by Paul Sinton-Hewitt.

It is a collection of 5KM events that takes place every Saturday around the world. They are free to enter and groups of volunteers help to keep the event going for the nearly 3 million people that take part across the world.

At The Ridings on Saturday, Mr Sinton-Hewitt made an appearance to complete his 412th Parkrun in Sodbury.

On their Facebook page, CSP posted: "480 of you managed to get round our course in what was our 2nd highest attendance.

"We had a lovely surprise visit from Parkrun royalty Paul & Joanne Sinton-Hewitt.

"Out of over 1650 events in the world the founder of Parkrun choose our event for his 412th run. RD of the day Nick could not believe his eyes."
