'Toxic' levels of alcohol were found in the body of a man found dead in a stream in Thornbury.
The body of Nicholas Gibbs, 47, was discovered in a stream in the Morton Way area on August 24 last year.
He was found by a member of the public at around 6pm.
A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said at the time: "The death is not being treated as suspicious and will be referred to the coroner as a sudden death.
"We were called to reports of the body of a man lying head down in a stream in the Morton Way area of Thornbury last night."
Assistant Coroner Myfanwy Buckeridge returned a narrative verdict at Avon Coroner's Court yesterday (Tuesday, January 9).
The verdict stated: "Nicholas Gibbs died due to the combined effect of drowning and toxic levels of alcohol.
"How he came to be in the water is not known."
