Families who have lost a loved one to meningitis are invited to commemorate them at a special event.

Meningitis Now are hosting their latest Forever Day at the Memorial Woodland near Thornbury on Saturday, March 2.

During the day families will remember loved ones through a programme of commemorative activities and have the opportunity to share experiences.

Dawn McNiff, Meningitis Now’s community support officer in the region, said: “Our experience tells us that people find it comforting and reassuring to talk with others who have been through something similar.

“This is especially true of bereavement, where many people affected feel their pain and trauma are not understood.

"Through our Forever Day we offer families the opportunity to meet and gain peer support from others who truly do have an understanding and a shared experience, helping to reduce the feeling of isolation felt by many.”

The event is free to attend for all family members and lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Visit the Meningitis Now website at MeningitisNow.org for further details about the day.
