You can have your say on how a Young Person’s Housing Scheme will work in the area.

South Gloucestershire Council revealed last month they aim to make a housing scheme for vulnerable young people, on the old Woodleaze Care Home site, by 2020.

The council is now consulting residents and groups on how the scheme would work for March of next year.

The consultation on the council’s website will be open until March 11 this year.

Questions the council want to answer include: How Woodleaze can fill a recognised gap in current provision? How the Council can achieve better outcomes for young people? And finally, how do they deliver better value for money for the council taxpayer?

Councillor Jon Hunt, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, admitted his delight the site was being revamped instead of demolished.

“Retaining this building and commencing work on this scheme is of vital importance for the future of our young people.

“It is highly cost-effective with the saving transferred to the taxpayer.”
