An 88-year-old woman has been left with 'shocking' injuries after being assaulted in a robbery.
The victim was a walking with her husband in Weston-super-Mare when the offender pulled the handbag off her arm. She then fell to the floor.
The incident happened on Colonel Stephens Way at approximately 1.50pm on Thursday, 10 January.
After stealing the handbag, the offender ran off down an alleyway leading to Oakford Avenue where it was later recovered having had cash and a bank card stolen from inside.
The victim sustained a broken nose, a fractured wrist and severe bruising as a result of the robbery.
A 30-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of robbery but has been released under investigation.
