A THORNBURY chef has won praise from one of the country's top food critics.
Romy Gill, who runs Romy's Kitchen in Castle Street, received plaudits from Grace Dent, a regular critic on TV cooking shows such as Masterchef.
Asked to describe her desert island dish in an article in The Guardian Grace said it would be something 'carb-laden and full of calories' before plumping for Romy's Samosa Chaat.
The popular Indian street food is made from fried, chopped-up samosas with chickpeas, sweet chutneys and yoghurt.
"It’s a big, crunchy, chunky bowl. It’s delicious," said Grace.
Growing up in West Bengal, Romy moved to the UK in 1994 and was awarded an MBE in 2016.
For those wanting to try and recreate her dish, the recipe will be in Romy's cookbook coming out later this year.
If you would rather taste Romy's cooking for yourself, you can book a table at romyskitchen.co.uk.
