AS SURVEYORS report the weakest property market for six years, as uncertainties around Brexit take their toll, it appears that the south Cotswolds are ‘bucking the trend’ with a busy start to 2019.

Hunters in Dursley say business has been brisk with new properties coming to the market and plenty of viewings resulting in positive sales agreed.

In and around the area over 30 new properties have been listed which is excellent within the first two weeks of a new year.

Richard Mace of Hunters believes the area is attracting more buyers away from the larger cities where price increases have pushed affordability away from purchasers.

With prices still around 20 per cent lower than Bristol home hunters realise that they can get great value for money and enjoy a more relaxed lifestyle surrounded by stunning Cotswold countryside.

Transport and commuting links attract homebuyers out further from the cities with Bristol, Bath, Gloucester and Cheltenham all around a 30 minute drive.

Dursley certainly seems to be a property hot spot in the South West and we have buyers looking across the board with many who have been frustrated with the lack of properties available during 2018.

They are waiting for the right property to come on to the market to make their move.

Some sellers were reluctant to put their homes on to the market in fear that they would not be able to sell.

In reality we sold more homes in 2018 than the previous year, achieving around 97 per cent of the asking price.

If you have been considering moving then do not delay as 2019 could be a good time to make that move.
