A consultation on changes made to recycling in South Gloucestershire will end this week.
The council is looking to remove the green and white plastic recycling bags that are used in kerbside collections, something that could save them £100,000 a year.
Green boxes would be used for all recyclable materials instead.
SGC are making cuts as they see a decrease in funding, this initiative may see them save £100,000 every single year.
Residents were invited to have their say via a public consultation but this closes on Friday, January 25.
Speaking when the consultation was launched in November Cllr Paul Hughes said: "The current bags are not biodegradable and plastic fragments are released into the environment as the bags deteriorate, they also need to be replaced regularly and are currently sourced from overseas.
"Removing the bags from the service could save us around £100,000 a year and the boxes also last far longer."
If the plans go ahead residents would be allowed to use their existing recycling bags until they need replacing, at which point they would need to switch to using boxes.
