BUSINESS people with questions on Brexit can share any concerns over its potential impact, with MPs at more special events run by Stroud District Council.

After the success of the first Brexit Breakfast at SDC’s Ebley Mill HQ earlier this month, three more are planned as the UK’s exit from the European Union draws closer.

SDC leader Doina Cornell and chief executive Kathy O’Leary will be able to share guidance from central Government, and the MPs whose constituencies cover the Stroud district will be able to offer a Westminster perspective and take back any concerns.

The next Brexit Breakfast will be held on Friday, February 22, with further sessions on March 22 and April 26.

Stroud MP David Drew will be at all three, and Cotswold MP Geoffrey Clifton-Brown will be at the April event.

At the first SDC Brexit Breakfast, areas covered included emerging guidance on EU citizens’ rights, workforce, trading standards, economy, ports and borders, and regulatory reform.

One of SDC’s five key priorities is to help create a sustainable and vibrant economy that works for all.

“Clearly this is a time of uncertainty and we are doing everything we can to help business and the voluntary sector through it, to ensure that we all best support our residents and workers” said Councillor Cornell.

“It was very valuable to hear concerns from a wide cross section of people at the first Brexit Breakfast and I look forward to the next sessions where we will be able to share more help and guidance as the situation develops.”

Mr Drew said: “Helping Stroud businesses prepare for Brexit is vital, particularly because agriculture and manufacturing are both key parts of our economy which need to be able to plan ahead. I’m very happy to help to support businesses at a time of great uncertainty.”

All three Brexit Breakfasts will start at 8.30am. Anyone interested in attending can call 01453 754 292 or email jane.russell@stroud.gov.uk
