MINCH U14s got to a winning start in 2019 with a thumping 40-7 win over Dursley.

The game started slowly with the referee allowing the forwards plenty of opportunities to practice their scrummaging. A trademark run by Tomas Pressey through the middle led to him opening the scoring under the posts with the conversion made by Alex Laddle.

Hugo Oliver’s swerving run saw him over the line, again converted by Laddle before Ruari Fryer took an inside pass off Archie Powis to finish under the posts to take a 21-0 lead at the break.

Oliver’s pace soon led to his second try early in the second half before the hosts snatched a converted consolation score. Minchinhampton reacted by dominating possession and soon Beau Brayham burst through the middle to add to the tally with Ioan Jones slotting the conversion. With moments to go Cameron Blaxhill finished off a blindside move scoring in the corner with Jones adding the conversion from the touchline.
