Distraught owners of a much loved tabby cat are pleading for people to help find him, after he disappeared while neighbours were throwing a noisy firework display.

Tiggi, whose family live near Lower Spillman's Rodborough, has not been seen since he became distressed by the loud displays which were let off immediately by where he lives.

"He was really scared by loud bangs and flashes that went off near us until 2am," owner Jane Ogden-Whiteley explained.

"As the evening went on he became more and more distressed - he was running around the house in a frenzy and there really was nothing we could do to calm him down.

"That was the last time we saw him, despite keeping him in and reassuring him that night, he disappeared the next day."

The handsome tabby is two years old and resembles a lynx with his distinct markings, and his bereft owners say that he is microchipped and neutered, healthy but very timid.

"We are so worried about him," Jane said.

"My daughter who he belongs to is absolutely distraught - he's like a member of the family."

Despite searching for the missing much-loved pet, dropping leaflets into neighbours' houses and putting up posters Tiggi has not been seen for over three weeks and his family are concerned that he may be trapped in a garage or shed, or he may be lying injured in nearby undergrowth.

"Please help us bring him home - it's possible that he's hiding anywhere in the Rodborough or Kingscourt area, and he may be very weak by now from not having any food or water - which means every nook and cranny will need to be searched, he won't just come out."
