WITH less than two months until the UK is set to leave the EU, Thornbury residents have been asked their thoughts on the situation.

Members of the Thornbury and Yate People’s Vote Group ran a 'Brexitometer' on the High Street to get the latest public view on Brexit.

Four questions were asked including whether leaving with no deal would be the best option and if Parliament should vote to accept the current deal being offered by the Prime Minister.

Andy O’Brien from the group said: “This week the big supermarkets warned the government of significant disruption to food supplies if there was no deal, with likely price rises too.

“Those concerns were reflected in our Brexitometer results."

South Gloucestershire followed the national trend and voted leave in the 2016 referendum.

The UK is set to leave the EU on March 29.

But the government is now trying to re-negotiate again with the EU, even though the EU has long said the deal is non-negotiable. So the government is increasing the chance of a no deal, with the chaos that would bring. People really don’t want this.”
