SEVERN Area Rescue's new state of the art lifeboat will be officially launched later this month.
Constructed in Plymouth, the 'Pride of Sharpness' has been designed specially for the harsh conditions of the river Severn.
The bespoke craft has been kitted out with cutting-edge equipment, including a heat-seeking camera system, to help locate casualties in the water at night.
In addition to its advanced electronics package, the craft has a sturdy 10mm thick aluminium hull to battle the unique conditions of the Severn.
Before its official launch, the new £200,000 vessel had to be put through extensive safety testing in Plymouth.
See how it copes with its final drop tests in this video:
The boat will be stationed at Sharpness to provide 24/7 life saving duties on the water.
