There is chance to learn about pleasure and shame at the next meeting of Thornbury Local History and Archaeology.
Professor Steve Poole will be holding a talk entitled "Pleasure and Shame: Sydney Gardens in Bath and the Reputation of a Gentleman, 1824-30".
His talk promises to lift the lid on the difficulties a self-made man might encounter in passing himself off as a respectable gentleman in early nineteenth century Bath.
The talk is taking place on Tuesday, March 12 at 7.30pm in St. Mary's Church Hall.
Entry costs £2.50 for guests which includes refreshments.
