After the whole of the South West was hit by heavy snowfall last week it only feels right to discuss the impact it had on the area.

On Thursday heavy snow fell and it truly tested the will of the public.

As we reported throughout the whole day though, one thing we were able to see quite clearly is just how incredible some of our local authorities actually are.

Whether this was councils, emergency services or those that patrol our highways, all responded very well to the conditions.

During the day, numerous organisations were out gritting roads to make sure that they would remain open despite the snow.

On Friday, dozens of workers from South Gloucestershire's Streetcare team were spotted out across the area to clear pathways in public spaces, including in Chipping Sodbury where snow fell particularly heavy.

Avon and Somerset Police released a statement after the snow had cleared and normals service had resumed, in it they thanked the community for their support.

Well done to everyone for working together during the snow.
