A road that provides access to a primary school is due to be closed for maintenance work.

Castle Road in Pucklechurch takes residents, drivers and parents to Pucklechurch Primary School, however it is now due to close for one week for resurfacing.

South Gloucestershire Council revealed, in a letter to residents, that the closure will take place from February 18 which coincides with half term at the school.

It is due to be be closed for five days however the council have warned if there is adverse weather then this could be longer.

In the letter they said: "Essential maintenance work will be carried out on Castle Road.

"This will involve a full road closure for the road between 8am and 5pm.

"A diversion route will be in place and advanced warning signs will be in place and we will endeavour to maintain access to residents and business properties."
