Chipping Sodburyis gearing up, ready to host the Avon Association of Drama Short Play Festival after being chosen as the location for the round this year.

The event takes place all around the Bristol area, frequently being held near Backwell.

However, next month from March 7 - 9, it will be taking place at Chipping Sodbury Town Hall after the venue previously hosted the event over five years ago.

The festival gives audiences the opportunity to see nine very different short plays over three evenings and one matinee.

Groups that are taking part this year include Sodbury Players, who recently completed a run of their annual pantomime, St Alban's Players, the newly-formed Orpheus Players and Junior Actonians.

In total, there are nine groups participating in the festival, with some groups entering more than one play.

The groups compete against each other and then are critiqued by a professional adjudicator.

On this occasion, Chris Jaeger MBE will be the man making the decisions on who deserves what awards at the conclusion of the festival.

One show will then be chosen to progress and represent Avon in the next round of the competition regionally.

Sodbury Players made it through to the final four plays in the country last year.

Full details of the event can be found on the Sodbury Players website, tickets are only £8.
