Binfield 0

Brimscombe 2

HELLENIC Premier Division leaders Brimscombe & Thrupp faced Binfield for the second time in less than five days, with the Lilywhites heading to Hill Farm Lane seeking revenge for their midweek cup exit, writes Scott Boulton.

The Gloucestershire side didn’t have the greatest of starts when Chris Pates was forced off with a horrible injury. The travelling party did find some joy five minutes later when Jake Parrott’s rocket shot rattled the post with James Campbell nodding home the loose ball. The home side looked dangerous as times with Tuesday night’s hero Ian Davies shooting just wide of the target. It was closing in towards the break when Jack Smith doubled the lead after a costly error at the Binfield back.

The Moles improved in the second-half and felt that they were unlucky not to have got at least one goal, Edd Major came on for Ollie Pitt and Ben Deakin replaced Campbell late on. Ash Gale was on hand to pull off a couple of fantastic saves, but Binfield substitute Eddie Lee nearly netted but couldn’t quite find the net, meaning Brimscombe left Berkshire with all three points.
