AWARD winning singer and musician Mairi Campbell is to perform and lead a singing session in Wotton under Edge this week.
Mairi is a well-known figure on the Scottish traditional music scene, and has won multiple awards including Scots Singer of the Year, Female Musician of the Year, Neil Gow Composition of the Year, and Tutor of the Year.
Mairi's solo concerts draw from traditional songs, improvisation, songwriting and Bach. She uses voice and viola.
As one half of the duo The Cast, her music conquered America when the pair's rendition of Auld Lang Syne was featured on the soundtrack of the 2008 movie Sex and the City, and the pair performed it in front of former US president Bill Clinton.
Mairi is in concert at Under The Edge Arts on Friday, February 15, at 8pm.
Tickets cost £9/£7.
This is followed on Saturday, February 16 at 10.30am by a singing workshop with Mairi at £10 per person.
Tickets are available online at www.utea.org.uk and in person at Fish Out Of Water.
