A Thornbury pub has joined the fight to try and save a little boy's life.

Eight-year-old Lee Belgium was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia in 2016, and, having twice fought it off, the cancer has now returned for a third time.

Doctors have said there is nothing more that could be done to help Lee, but the family is hoping to raise £90,000 to fund treatment abroad once Lee recovers from a fungal infection.

Much of those funds will come from The Malthouse, who are holding a series of charity events.

The Marstons pub has already raised £700 thanks to a bingo event held last week.

Next up is a clairvoyant evening on February 23. Psychic medium Indigo Starseed will be visiting.

The following day sees a pub sports team event being held. On this day there will also be a charity auction with a signed Bristol City shirt among the items on offer.

There will also be a family fun day on March 3 featuring fancy dress, face painting and a raffle.

Landlords Julie Walker and Mark Wilson, have appealed to local businesses and people to donate auction and raffle prizes.

For more details call in to the High Street pub or call 01454 549044.

Marstons are also getting in on the action as part of their annual Give Back Week.

Area managers will be cycling to Thornbury from the company's headquarters in Wolverhampton.

"It's a great cause and we'll have a laugh doing it," said area operations manager Matthew Watts.
