A cyclist has been taken to hospital after being involved in a hit and run in Gloucester.

The cyclist, a 30-year old-man, was travelling from Estcourt Road towards St Oswalds Road. He was hit by a Ford Transit type van just after 10pm yesterday (Wednesday, February 13).

The van, which failed to stop, was travelling from Kingsholm Road onto Tewkesbury Road and was last seen heading along Tewkesbury Road towards the Longford roundabout. It is described as being dark in colour, possibly blue or black with large, white sign writing on the side. It's believed to be the short wheel base size and quite new.

The cyclist was assisted by members of the public and treated at the roadside by paramedics before being taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital with suspected injuries to his back.
