I NOTE from January 23 issue that Stroud District Council 'disposes of the least amount of residual waste to landfill or incineration of all local councils in England”, writes reader Geoff Brown.

However, as the new bins are so small we generate at least one extra black sack each week that the council doesn’t take.

Eventually these get taken to the tip, and thus to landfill.

As the tip hours are now much reduced and queuing is regular, with the associated waste of fuel, I would suggest that whilst Stroud District Council might appear to be winning, I’m not sure the world is.
