A dale described as the "missing piece in the jigsaw" of conservation efforts in Chalford could be "lost forever," according to Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust.
The charity is appealing for cash to buy a site in the village known as Dimmel's Dale, an area of grassland in the Golden Valley between Stroud and Cirencester.
Under the Trust's plans, the wildlife-rich 8.5 acre dale would become a special nature reserve like Daneway Banks and Siccaridge Woods close by.
