Two men have set themselves the challenge of cycling to Paris from Yate to raise money and awareness of mental health.

George Covello, 23, and family friend Graham Elliott, 57, are both attempting the feat for an incredible cause with the help of George's brother Andrew, 29, in the support car.

“I will be cycling from Yate in Bristol to Paris,” George said.

“I will be doing this in aid of Mind - a charity that focuses on helping those facing difficulties with their mental health.”

MIND is a charity that focuses on helping those facing difficulties with their mental health.

“The reason I decided to choose such an admirable charity to raise awareness and money for, is due to fact that suicide is currently the biggest cause of death in males between the age of 20-49,” George continued.

“The most important statistic, however, to take notice of is between 2002 and 2012, 72% of people who died by suicide had not been in touch with their GP or health professional about these feelings in the year before their suicide.

George and Graham have a Justgiving page that has raised around £750 already, with the duo setting themselves the target of £1000 before they set off on the February 24.

The ride is around 240 miles, with the pair hoping to complete the journey in four days.

On the page, George said: “Thank you for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page, all donations are welcome and gratefully received.

“If you don’t want to donate, please still share this page in order to help increase the awareness and to allow the charity have a wider reach."
