SEVERN Area Rescue's new state of the art lifeboat will be officially launched this weekend.
A first in many aspects, the 'Pride of Sharpness' has been designed and built to provide a specialist search and rescue vessel to work out of Sharpness Docks, covering the tidal Severn, from Severn Beach to Gloucester.
The official blessing, naming and launch ceremony is taking place at Sharpness Lifeboat Station on Saturday at 9.30am.
The blessing will be led by The very Reverend Dean Stephen of Gloucester and the naming by Professor Mark Horton of the BBC TV Coast programme.
There will also be singing from the 30 man Cotswold Male Voice Choir.
Everyone is welcome.
