Here are some of the best events taking place on Shrove Tuesday (March 5).
Pancake race
Location: Parsonage Street, Dursley
Dursley's annual pancake race will be held at noon on Shrove Tuesday.
Heats will be held with the fastest runners qualifying for the grand final.
All proceeds will go towards the Henlow Court Activity Fund.
Entry forms are available at dursleytowncouncil.gov.uk.
Free pancakes
Location: Sheep on Sheep Street, Stow-on-the-Wold
If you don't want to spend money buying pancakes then this is the place to be.
Free kid's pancakes are on offer with every drink purchase from 3-5pm on Shrove Tuesday.
Kids can also go mad with toppings in the pub's Pancake Factory Corner.
Pub pancakes
Location: The Swan, Thornbury High Street
The Swan never normally misses out on a celebration and Shrove Tuesday is no exception.
From 9.30-11.30am and 2.30-5.30pm you can get a pancake and a drink for £2.95.
There will be many toppings to choose from.

Eating contest
Location: Rattlebone Inn, Church Street
If you love your pancakes then this is where you need to be on Tuesday.
The pub is holding a pancake eating competition. It will get underway at 7.30pm and entry costs £2.

Pancake party
Location: Saint James the Great Church, Westerleigh
Shrove Tuesday is a religious festival after all, so it is only fitting that churches get involved.
The church is holding its annual village pancake party from 6.30pm.
There will also be an Ash Wednesday service at 11.15am the following day.
Pancakes for a good cause
Location: Oakridge Village Hall
If you like your pancakes while also helping raise money then this is the event for you.
The Pancake Lunch costs £8 with all proceeds going towards maintenance of the hall.
All are welcome to call in from 12-2pm. Soup and a ploughman's lunch is available as well as pancakes.
