A popular park in Yate has been awarded top marks yet again.

Kingsgate Park is situated just next to Stanshawes pub around a five minute walk from the shopping centre

Over the last few years the park has received high praise in the South West in Bloom awards.

Sue Swanborough of the Friends of Kingsgate Park group said: "We are really thrilled to have been awarded 5 stars again for 2018 by South West in Bloom Pride in Parks Award.

"It is a team effort with The Estates Team at Yate Town Council and the volunteers of Friends of Kingsgate Park.

"We know that all those that visit the park appreciate having a green open space that is free and safe."

The Friends of Kingsgate Park has been running since its formation in 2003.

A small dedicated group of volunteers work hard, alongside Yate Town Council Estates Department employees, to maintain the park and make small improvements.

Since 2013, the park has achieved the highest possible accolade in the South West in Bloom awards.

They then moved up the RHS Pride in Parks awards in 2017.

On that occasion the park received five stars, at the event last week the park received the full five stars again to cap another fantastic year for the volunteers.
