Thornbury Local History and Archaeology Society’s next meeting is on Tuesday in St. Mary’s Church Hall.
Philip Ashford will give an illustrated talk entitled: “The Migration of 1619 from South Gloucestershire to Berkeley, Virginia - how the tobacco plantations of America began.”
The Berkeley Colony (1619-1622) was located on the James River, Virginia. It is claimed America’s first thanksgiving was celebrated there 400 years ago.
The talk will begin at 7.30pm. Visitors can enter for £2.
