MP for Thornbury and Yate Luke Hall visited a primary school last week to discuss the community.
When visiting Alexander Hosea Primary School last Friday, the MP met Year 6 students to talk about their concerns and listen to their suggestions for improving the area.
The pupils raised the importance of having local shops, more green spaces, recycling bins, solar panels and a potential zebra crossing on Wickwar High Street with the MP on the day.
MP Luke said: "It was a pleasure to meet the year 6 pupils at Alexander Hosea. It is always nice to see that young people are engaged with elections and government, they asked many insightful questions.
"I was impressed with their knowledge of the current issues our community and our nation face and their ideas of how we can improve our area."
Year 6 teacher Mrs Brooks said: ‘The year 6 children have been learning about the British Parliament and were keen to meet their local MP.
"Luke Hall was very engaging, sharing with the children what he enjoys about his job and giving us an insight into how our democracy works.
"They were pleased that he was interested in their suggestions and they felt their ideas were valued."
