A tree has been planted in memory of a much-loved Thornbury teacher.
Joan Tuck, headteacher at Crossways Infant School for many years during the 1980s and 90s, passed away over Christmas.
As well as being a teacher Joan was also a founder member of Thornbury In Bloom and saw the group win countless awards during her time.
To commemorate her life, the In Bloom team and Thornbury's Town Council's Tree Strategy Group arranged for a purple leaved Acer tree to be planted in the grounds of the school.
This was done by Joan's daughters, Catherine and Alison, on Friday, March 1.
They were joined for the occasion by year two children from the Infant school.
Retired teachers and staff, current headteacher, Mark Toogood, Judith Hurford, the town's tree warden and members of the Thornbury In Bloom committee were also in attendance.
