The Severn Bridge is set to be closed for almost 24 hours due to forecast strong winds.

It will be closed from 10pm tonight (Monday) and it is anticipated the bridge will not reopen until after rush hour on Tuesday once winds have dropped.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wind from 9pm on Tuesday to 3pm on Wednesday.

Strong northwesterly winds are expected with some bus and train services likely to be affected and short-term loss of power and other services also possible.

The Prince of Wales Bridge is scheduled to remain open during this time but will be fully closed westbound from 9pm on March 14 until 6am the next day. Lane closures will also be in place eastbound during this time.

The Severn Bridge will again be closed eastbound all weekend as work continues to remove tolls.
