Two lorries have crashed on a busy road near Pilning, causing one to leave the carriageway.
The A403 Severn Road is currently closed in both directions between Redwick Road and Northwick Road.
Avon and Somerset Police and Avon Fire and Rescue Service both attended the scene.
Fire crews from Avonmouth and Temple fire stations used a high-pressure hose reel to clear fuel from the road.
South West Ambulance Service were called to the incident at 7.33am. One patient was taken by ambulance to hospital but their injuries are not thought to be serious.
