Volunteers at the Baby Pop-Up Shop in Yate Shopping Centre have revealed the incredible amount of money raised within the first week of their charity store being open.

The shop is ran by new mothers that are on maternity leave with their newborn children, the aim is to raise money so they can give something back to those that helped deliver their babies.

Emma Louise Doney and Claire Davis recently gave birth to their children at Cossham Hospital and Southmead, they then came up with the pop-up shop idea to raise money for the Southmead Hospital Charity Maternity Fund.

The shop officially opened its doors on March 4 and has been extremely popular ever since.

So many people visited the shop on the first day that Emma recalled it was ‘hard to move’.

“We have been so busy already, we had so many people in on the day and usually there is a queue outside before we open,” she said.

“Thanks to our dedicated volunteers, in our first week alone, we have raised over £2500 in aid of Southmead Hospital Charity Maternity Fund.

"100% of every purchase goes to the charity so we are working hard to do as much as we can."

The shop is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays from 12pm until 4pm.

It is not usually open on Wednesdays or weekends, however the popularity of the shop meant that last Saturday, Emma and Claire opened up for a few hours along with a couple of other volunteers.

Despite raising the huge amount within the first week, the team are still looking to continue the good work until the end of the month.

Despite the huge variety of things for sale at the shop, the volunteers are also fundraising in a number of different ways.

Throughout the week there are story sessions at the shop, which has a little creche area for babies, these take place from 2pm-2.30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

There is also a raffle that has some amazing prizes including family passes for We Are The Curious and Old Down Country Park as well as Afternoon Tea at Calcot Manor, tickets can be bought at the shop.
