An intrepid team of parents from Rodmarton Primary School have raised more than £7,500.

The slightly nervous team took part in the Bathalf Marathon on Sunday, March 17, to raise funds for the small village school.

The seven-strong team, of six mums and one dad, all completed the 13.1 mile course around the streets of Bath in less than two and a half hours.

Organiser and team member Alex Bransby, whose children go to the small village school, had the original idea of getting a team together to take on the challenge.

Alex said: “Sunday was really tough – 13.1 miles is a long way to run – but we all made it and, amazingly, none of us is too stiff!

"The atmosphere was fantastic with people cheering us on all the way around the course and it felt so good to finally get across the finishing line.

“When I first suggested we run the Bathalf for the school I had no idea we would raise quite so much money - I thought that we’d be doing well if we got to £500!

"We are all so delighted that we have helped raise so much for our fantastic little school and we really can’t say a big enough thank you to everyone who has sponsored us.

"Knowing how much support we have had definitely spurred us all on.”

Rodmarton School head teacher Caroline Musty said: “The whole school community is very proud of our Bathalf team.

"We are overwhelmed by their efforts and so grateful to them for raising such a huge amount of money for our school.”
