Residents have been angered by long delays caused by roadworks in the centre of Dursley.
Temporary traffic lights have been installed near Sainsbury's on Castle Street, causing queues of cars during rush hour.
Adam Driver, 34, said: “We’re having to wait ages to get through the lights and it’s causing long tailbacks.
"I know it’s putting people off coming into town, which can’t be good for the businesses here.”
The roadworks, being carried out by Severn Trent, are scheduled to be completed tomorrow (Friday).
A statement from Dursley Town Council said: "The new service connection works require temporary traffic signals, so delays are to be expected particularly during the peak hours."
