DEMONSTRATORS from across the region joined hundreds of thousands of people marching on Parliament yesterday, calling for the public to be given the final say on Brexit.
Eight full coach loads from Gloucestershire headed to the capital to take part in the ‘Put It To The People’ march in Parliament Square today.
Organisers of the march said it 'exceeded all expectations', with a turnout of around 1 million.
Campaigners marched from Park Lane to Parliament Square, followed by a rally in front of Parliament.
In a post on social media, Stroud District Council leader Doina Cornell shared her reasons for attending the march: "I’m on the People's Vote March today for my two children who didn’t have a vote for their future in 2016, for my parents, for my Council which supported a People's Vote last summer, for MP David Drew who can’t make it today, and for Stroud district that voted remain."
Shockingly, Stroud Town Councillor Chas Townley posted statistics on Twitter that showed 1 in 8 electors had signed the petition to remain in the EU.
